Step 1 If you have created an FSA ID: Click on the "Returning User" button and input your FSA ID to begin.
Fill out the FAFSA online
If you have not filled out the FAFSA before: To start the application process: www.fafsa.ed.gov or download below.
- You can now download the "MyStudentAid" App on your mobile device or go to the "mystudentaid" App on your https:/ /fsaid.ed.gov/ under the "Create an FSA ID" tab.

Step 2 Follow up with Yavapai College 7-10 days after completing the FAFSA.
Log into your YC student portal, and click on "Students,""My Financial Aid," "Check Your Eligibility!" and select appropriate aid year.
- Once YC has received your FAFSA information, you may have additional requirements needed to complete your financial aid file if your file was "selected" for verification. They will be located under "Check My Eligibility!" Most requirements will be a clickable link that will display more information on how to complete the process.
You can complete the documents required and sign forms electronically as well as upload documents requested by following the instructions contained on "verifymyfafsa".
If you have not been selected for verification, your Financial Aid can be awarded. ALL REQUIREMENTS MUST BE TURNED IN BEFORE WE CAN EVALUATE YOUR FILE. - If you are selected to submit additional documentation, it will take approximately 2 weeks from the time the last financial aid requirement is completed for an award to be made.
If 'Terms and Conditions' is the ONLY requirement on your list, it will take approximately 24 hours for your aid to package, if you are eligible
Need to Apply for a Student Loan? A minimum of 6 Course Program of Study {CPOS} credit hours is required.
Complete the two steps above first. A completed FAFSA is required.
For a loan application, log into your student account, then click on "Students," then choose "My Financial Aid," select "Direct Loan Information". Please PRINT the Direct Loan Application document out and return to the financial aid office. You must also complete 2 additional requirements online:
- Loan Entrance Counseling
- Master Promissory Note
How is Financial aid Disbursed?
Pell Grants: Once all charges are paid, any remaining aid will be disbursed approximately 10 days AFTER classes have begun. Please note: Disbursement depends on your enrolled credit hours as of the freeze date. This date can be found on the YC Academic Calendar.
Student Loans: The schedule can vary. Please contact the Financial Aid Office for your specific disbursement timeframe.
Lastly, keep in mind that filling out a FAFSA does not guarantee you will qualify for financial aid.
