Title 1 Information

What is Title 1?

Title 1Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District qualifies as a Title 1 school district. According to the Arizona Department of Education, "the purpose of Title I-Improving the Academic Achievement of the Disadvantaged of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA) (signed into law on December 10, 2015, replacing No Child Left Behind) is to “provide all children significant opportunity to receive a fair, equitable, and high-quality education, and to close educational achievement gaps”. Title I provides technical assistance, service and support to local educational agencies (LEAs) and schools to help ensure every child has access to an excellent education."

Title 1 Resources

All of our students are eligible to receive Title 1 resources to close their learning gaps. On both campuses, students have the opportunity to receive small group instruction, tutoring, and support courses to meet their needs. In addition, to address the foundation of learning, West Sedona Elementary School has a full-time Title 1 Reading Coach and a full-time Title 1 Aide. Working together, students at the elementary school are provided intense and repeated Tier III instruction to provide the necessary instructional support during the school day. Outside the school day, both campuses offer Title 1 academic support as an after school enrichment opportunity.
