One District, One Team
Our District
In our small rural district, students enjoy exceptional opportunities to excel in activities, athletics, and clubs that might not be available in larger school systems. SOCUSD stands out for its strong community support and commitment to providing enriching experiences for all students.
Our History
The Sedona-Oak Creek Joint Unified School District was established following a community initiative in the early 1990s. Residents of Coconino and Yavapai counties voted to create a new district, with an impressive 93% voter approval leading to its formation in fiscal year 1991–92. The district was created by combining portions of three existing districts: Cottonwood-Oak Creek Elementary School District No. 6, Mingus Union High School District No. 4, and Flagstaff Unified School District No. 1. Today, we serve approximately 700 students from pre-kindergarten through 12th grade across both counties.
