Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District Governing Board

District residents elect our school board members, who serve as volunteer public officers dedicated to our schools’ success. These unpaid community members set district goals, oversee personnel decisions, and establish budgets, policies, and curriculum.

Board members can only make decisions through majority votes during official meetings with a quorum present. Outside of these formal sessions, they hold no more authority over school matters than any other district resident. This structure ensures essential decisions are made collectively and transparently.

Board Meetings

We hold our board meetings at 4:00 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month (unless otherwise noted) at the following location:

Sedona Performing Arts Center
995 Upper Red Rock Loop Rd
Sedona, Arizona

Our school board operates with complete transparency in accordance with Arizona’s open meeting laws. We believe the public has a right to know what’s happening in their schools, so meeting notices and agendas are available at least 24 hours in advance, and meeting minutes become public within three working days.

While most discussions take place in the open, some sensitive matters, such as personnel decisions, salary negotiations, and legal consultations, may occur in executive sessions. However, any action that legally binds our district requires a public vote, ensuring accountability in every decision that affects our schools and community.
