Curriculum, Instruction & Assessments
At Sedona-Oak Creek Unified School District, we’re committed to providing your child with a rich and rigorous education that sets them up for success in college and their future career. Our curriculum is aligned with Arizona Academic Standards, which prepare students for college, career, and life success. Here’s what makes our academic program special.
Our Foundation: Arizona State Standards
Every subject we teach follows Arizona State Standards, giving your student a solid foundation in all core areas. We also offer exciting advanced opportunities like:
- Advanced Placement (AP) courses through College Board
- Dual Enrollment and Early College programs through Yavapai College
Quality Curriculum That Works
We don’t just pick any textbooks—our curriculum is carefully chosen and reviewed every year to ensure it works for all our students, from kindergarten through 12th grade.
Our Current Programs:

- Eureka Math by Great Minds for mathematics (K–6)
- Collections by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt for English language arts (7–12)
Our school committees and parent councils work together to evaluate and recommend the best materials for our students.

- Special Education for students with unique learning needs
- Structured English Immersion for English language learners

- Celebrate successes and plan next steps
Our Assessment Tools:
- Galileo benchmark testing three times per year (K–12)
- DIBELS to track reading progress (K–6)
